Arnold M. Able is a native of South Carolina and graduated with high honors from Clemson University in South Carolina where he completed both his B.S and M.S. in Physics (1978). He relocated to Maryland in 1979 to begin a career in Medical Physics.
After successfully attaining ABR certification in Radiological Physics in 1985, he furthered his post-graduate education taking courses in the PhD program of the Physics Department at University of Maryland in College Park. Mr. Able is currently a member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) and the Health Physics Society (HPS), and, at various stages in his career, been a member of (or recognized by) organizations such as the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO), Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM), Society of Physics Students (SPS), Sigma Pi Sigma (Physics Honor Society) and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
Currently, Mr. Able is the President of Associates in Medical Physics (AMP) and Director of Physics and Technical Services for Radiation Management Associates of Silver Spring, MD – an organization dedicated to the operation and management of radiation oncology facilities. His activities include the development of Radiation Oncology programs and the technical direction to multiple facilities and personnel in medical physics and dosimetry. His career has spanned more than two decades in the Greater Baltimore-Washington area, as well as the surrounding Tri-State region. In addition to the radiation oncology activities, Mr. Able is active in the Diagnostic Radiology and Health Physics fields. He derives satisfaction from the development of new individuals in the field of Medical Physics and Dosimetry.
