Vice President Contracting and Chief Financial Officer

Betty is a native of Maryland. She attended Montgomery College and received her AA in Nursing in 1985 and began her career in Oncology at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital while advancing her degree. Betty received her BSN in 1990 and her MS in Health Care Administration in 1997, both from the University of Maryland. Betty is currently a member of Medical Group Management Associates, Oncology Nursing Society, Phi Theta Kappa, Sigma Theta Tau International and the Nightingale Society.

Betty took a position as a clinical nurse in Radiation Therapy with Clinical Radiologist, Inc., where she managed the daily operations including the sale of the physician-owned radiation oncology center to Holy Cross Hospital. In addition to operating the center, Betty developed Radiation Management Associates, (RMA) a full service radiation oncology management company. RMA was formed in 1997 to bid on the contract to staff the Radiation Oncology Branch at the National Institutes of Health and the Radiation Center at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. Those contracts are now in their eighth year. She maintained both positions until 1999 when she left Holy Cross to assume the role of the COO in the newly developed, Maryland Regional Cancer Care (MRCC). MRCC is a joint venture of Holy Cross and Shady Grove Hospitals. MRCC is the largest provider of radiation oncology services in the State, with an annual budget of $20,000.000.

In her position in MRCC, Betty has overseen the renovation of two sites, with the addition of a new IMRT capable Linear Accelerator for external beam treatments, High Dose Rate Brachytherapy (HDR), two CT simulators, and the Novalis Brain Lab equipment for providing Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Stereotactic Radiotherapy treatments. Two other existing sites were upgraded to add IMRT capability and IGRT. In addition, she was the project manager for the design, development and construction of a new radiation therapy center, which included IMRT external beam treatments, HDR, IGRT, and CT simulation. All five sites of MRCC are connected with a Wide Area Network (WAN), which allows transmission of patient information and images to provide the most efficient use of equipment and human resources. The MRCC sites are in the process of implementing a system-wide Electronic Medical Record. The Centers recently were accredited by the American College of Radiology.

In 2005 Betty assumed the role of President of Radiation Management Associates, which now has contracts in excess of $8,000,000 annually. Betty oversees the day-to-day activities of the five MRCC sites and serves as a member of the Management Advisory Panel for the National Institutes of Health and Bethesda Naval Medical Center, which oversees the labor contract for the radiation therapy branch of these centers.
